I am near completion of the re-writing of my book, “Into the Greys’ Abyss.: Volumes-1 and 2. It has been an interesting journey, and quite a learning experience to do this. The original book had many errors in it and the length was quite long, and there were chapters I had left out because of this. I decided it was best to break the book into two volumes and still keep the abduction accounts and UFO history all in line– so the readers lose nothing in the telling. I think that it is more comfortable for a reader to be able to choose Volume-1 at first, and if they get into it, he or she can purchase Volume-2.
During the journey of rewriting the book I did have some wonderful help from my publishing team. They were great about getting everything I asked for ion regards to the rewrite so that the book could be put into two volumes with extra content, photos and illustrations, and new covers for both!
I have found one or two drawbacks and that is my publishing/marketing agent wanted me to market my book through a complete “Platinum” package that offers Amazon Optimization, a cool video for my book, a national television spot, my book featured on Times Square screens in NY City, and so on… for the price of $14,000! I had to tell him, “No.”
After a conversation today with my publishing manager, I am finding that just the “much needed” Amazon Optimization, seems to be a huge brick wall for me to blast through! I know it is important to get my book on the first page – but everyone else is doing this too, so how can my publishing/ marketing agent guarantee me really high sales of my book? I would still be competing for that first page algorithm, with other authors -millions of other authors!
I am not even close to being tech savvy, and because of this I have hired someone to do my own website for me- and I am so thankful for his hard work! I have hired a team for some Optimization on Amazon but as of this date (November 2, 2025) good old Amazon has decided to block my Volume-2 book, because of the cover no doubt! It is a bit risqué but only in a general way- there is no real detail; my body is nude lying on the metal table with a Mantid being and the Tall Grey there standing at the table- on the cover, and it shows the large containers with small beings in them. I told all of this true “abduction situation” to my publishing team so that they could come up with a good illustration, and I simply went with it to be the cover illustration. I saw no harm in doing this! Amazon originally approved it in September.
I have found that these “publishing houses” really push the marketing side and not so much the formatting and editing parts – which I needed the most help with. They also try to wriggle you into paying quite a lot of money to get marketing done fast, but damn it, I have horses and I am on a strict budget! I get a press release, and some help with my You Tube channel but with everything else on my plate, I simply cannot afford all of this ingenious and flashy marketing.
